President's Message

A Message from Mike Witt, Chapter President


On behalf of the Board of the Cincinnati North Chapter, I welcome you to our 2017-18 chapter year.  Our chapter enters its 41st year building on the strong tradition of those who came before us.  Chapter membership is 170.  In the past chapter year, four of our members passed the CMA exam as more professionals recognize the benefits of the designation which include a greater career potential in terms of types of positions available as well as higher compensation.  Many more members took advantage of CPEs offered at our monthly dinner meetings as well as on webinars offered by National.  The CMA has become the leading management accounting credential recognized globally.  Worldwide membership now exceeds 85,000 with over 43,000 CMAs in 140 countries. 

Your local board has been hard at work planning for this upcoming chapter year.    We are finalizing the process of acquiring speakers that will discuss timely topics of interest that concern accounting and financeprofessionals across all types of businesses.  We welcome your ideas for topics and speakers.  We are putting special emphasis on reaching out to the next generation of management accountants by having two events on college campuses, one at UC in November and the other at Xavier in April.  We have a dedicated board member, Candy Levine, who is leading the effort to meet with students to share information on the CMA as well as encourage them to attend our events and network with established professionals.  We also have a Social Media Director, Avery Washington, who will help our upcoming events to “go viral.”  The November event at UCwill feature “Mr. Excel” aka Bill Jelen.

Another development we are excited to share is the development of our website.  This effort is being led by Ted Hyle.  The website will be the “go to” place to get information on upcoming events, chapter officer information, past newsletters, and photos of past events.  You will be able to find much of the same information on the website that was in the roster book including a password protected, members only roster file.   

Through this website, you will have the ability to pay for networking events with Paypal and debit/credit cards.  Also you can pay with a debit/credit card at the door.

We are always looking for your opinions and input.  In addition to providing our contact information, we welcome your attendance at our monthly board meetings which are held on the second Wednesday of each month.  We also have open positions where you can participate in the decision making process.
